Work Wankers – Posters of Ad Agency Personalities

You might have already seen these making the design and advertising circles lately, but this project is definitely worth sharing in case you haven't seen it yet. "Work Wankers" is an example of  great-concept-meets-great-execution by Peter Cortez and Joe Sayaman, who together take form as Mizaplas, based out of New York City. If you're in the industry or have ever worked a creative or design gig before, you're sure to relate to at least a few of these. While some can be almost cruel in description, they're often not too far from the truth, and the fact that each one of these profiles can hit each persona spot-on probably is the reason why this gem has been spreading like wildfire.  Posters will be available sometime in the future, so check their website for updates.

"Live Free or Fly" Posters

  

A very clever campaign by jetBlue for their "Election Protection" promotional contest.  While a lot of companies and agencies are putting out a lot of fluff to tie in consumers with the 2012 Presidential Election, jetBlue's "Live Free or Fly" campaign is actually pretty clever and well designed.  While not mind-blowingly amazing, its clear, easy to understand, and they've provided print-quality hi-res photos of these posters, which basically made this series an obligatory post here on Flyer Goodness. We're not sponsored or asked by the airline to do this post, as we continue to be ad-free. Although the act itself of posting and sharing is just part of the objectives of this campaign, we hope that someone out there can reach out to us with the designer(s) involved for these posters, as we'd love to credit them.

Edit: Scott Slagsvol over at Mullen kindly pointed out to us that this was part of their best work for Jet Blue for their Election Protection and that CD Brian Gunderson is the guy behind these posters.  Awesome work.

Vintage German Ads by Ludwig Hohlwein

Ludwig Hohlwein (1874-1949) was a commercial German poster artist with an architectural background who had an affinity for watercolors, tempera painting, and poster prints.   He creates some really rich compositions & shadings and had produced over 3,000 advertisements ranging from pre-World War II posters to American advertisements for Camel and Fatima Cigarettes.  

40 Pieces of Vintage Tobacco Advertising

Thought these old tobacco ads were pretty interesting to sift through, with a lot of them having some nice traditional use of simple type with a catchy graphic.  For some reason, theres just something about the inclusion of animals in human advertising that draws out a certain kind of appeal--maybe its just me.  But overall a fine collection of prints promoting the cigarette industry, even though I'm not a smoker myself.
