Russian Poster (1989) by V. Trubanov

My good friend, colleague and talented Russian designer Oleg Lyutov was gifted this gorgeous poster for his birthday the other day, and we had to share it as I'm sure many poster fans will love it.  I can't find much on the artist/designer, other than that he goes by V. Trubanov, and he was active in the Russian art scene in the 80s, with some work done with the CCCP.

Vintage Sports Posters by the Costacos Brothers

Disregard the eccentric costumes, outrageous facial expressions, and Hollywood backdrops to appreciate the 80s fantasy sports posters by the Costacos brothers that have made their way well around the internet.  You'd have to be pretty daring to try this these days, but what makes these posters classic is the straightforwardness and relatively simple design styling of contrasting lettering and epic illustration.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

I've no words for the phenomenon that was my obsession with old Japanese Godzilla VHS tapes growing up.  The toys, the games, and the idea of gargantuan monsters fighting each other in cities with quasi-wrestling moves and humorous taunting gestures.  It was the best old school Japanese sci-fi  had to offer.  Monster Brains blogger Aeron Alfrey compiled this amazing set of 1960s-1980s Godzilla posters, with some Polish/Czech posters mixed in, posted in the beginning.  The box art of the Godzilla VHS tapes always fascinated me, and even though the movies were cheesy, the character designs were not.
