Planetary Star Wars Posters by Juan Verdera

Juan Verdera makes these Star Wars planets look like pleasant travel destinations in a National Geographic magazine.  Little do they show how pleasant they actually are.  An elegant and scenic take nonetheless though, nicely done.

Elegant Help Japan Poster by Signalnoise

Fellow Canadian James White, better known by his design alias Signalnoise, made this elegant poster amid all of the turmoil going on from the aftermath of the Tsunami this week.  Its so simple, and has an elemental feel to it with the cracks and texture effects.  There are two things that stand out to me when looking at this, one, the symbolism of the cracks from the effects of the 8.9 earthquake in Japan, and two, the ink blotted near the bottom that associates with the bloodshed from the unfortunate casualty toll.  Its a very serious poster, but also spectacular in its foward thinking-ness.

All proceeds go to Japan disaster relief.

Decorative Lettering Done Well by Annie Yiling Wang

Annie Yiling Wang is a student at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, and beautifully implemented elegant lettering and decorations into a modern, informative and attractive poster on safe sex.  One of the most elegant and attractive ways of spreading a public service message about STD's, unlike the cheesy, uninspiring and boring PSA's you might see from the government.

Band of Horses @ Outside Lands

Promotional design for Band of Horses playing at this year's Outside Lands festival in San Francisco.  It's not your usual festival or gig poster -- its almost as an elegant book cover or something you might find in a beautiful antiques shop.  Design credits unknown -- if anyone can provide a tip off to the artist we'd very much appreciate it!
