The Art of Peter Bjorn & John: Jonas Torvestig (Stockholm, Sweden)

Millions of us probably have been exposed to some of the illustrations and artwork of Stockholm-based Jonas Torvestig, particularly from his album art for "Gimme Some" by Peter Bjorn and John.  Jonas Torvestig is adept at executing traditional graphic and typographic works, but he is also a talented illustrator who can pick fun colors and convey original and interesting ideas in a very simple, clear and appealing manner.  Check out photos from the Gimme Some Exhibition in Los Angeles as well as our friend's interview with Peter Bjorn and John on Evil Monito.

Monday Music Goodness: The Weeknd and Star Slinger

Instead of rehashing how clever and mysterious The Weeknd's rotation through twitter and the blog circles seemed, or speculating over what this means for r&b, I'll just rearticulate Buttermilk Sessions' comment at 47 seconds into this Soundcloud embed; "this song is the shit". There's enough sex, drugs, and r&b on this joint to give any after party playlist a bump in the right direction.

Nods from Diplo and official remix releases on labels like Ghostly/Rough Trade/Arts & Crafts say all that's gotta be said about Star Slinger. His signature glitched out sound has been a lifesaver to me in LA traffic. Streaming the entire Soundcloud page is highly recommended.

The Glitch Mob put out a bunch of their remixes out as a donation to Haiti a couple months ago, and the album artwork is pretty clean and we needed to share it here.

Reader Submission of the Week -- Design Insane from Athens

Design Insane followed us on Twitter a while back, and like all of our followers, we checked out their site to see if they had cool art.  Lo and behold, here are some cool designs from this Athens-based design studio.  These Greeks became our Reader Submission of the Week without even knowing it.  Moral of the story -- email us your stuff, follow us on Twitter, or fan us on Facebook to get your work featured here!

Album Cover Art of the Week: El-P "Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3"

Since our blog is really centered on where music and art meet, it only makes sense for us to feature awesome album covers and record sleeves on Flyer Goodness, beginning with El-P's latest instrumental mixtape, "WeAreAllGoingToBurnInHellMegaMixxx3."  It's quite a name, but it's also done by quite an artist.  Travis Miller, a comic book artist, created this doodle using just watercolors and ink.   Check out this video interview with the artist and the creation process on Spin.
