Modernist Design by Bob Noorda

Bob Noorda was a Dutch graphic designer who lived mostly in Milan, Italy where he first became recognized for his poster advertisements for the tire manufacturer Pirelli.  In addition to his work for Milano's Metropolitana (Milan's rapid transit system), he co-founded the international design firm Unimark International with the design-famed Massimo Vignelli, where they took on the job of designing signage for the New York City Subway from the New York Transit Authority.  He passed away in 2010, but his contribution to the popularization of modernism still is still seen today in the NYC subway.

Salone Internazionale del Mobile

Salone Internazionale del Mobile is an annual furniture showcase in Italy that started in 1961 in Milan.  Most of these event posters are from the late 60s-70s, and display some really nice classic Italian design.

Gig Posters by Alessandro Busseni

I try not to post graphic designers from the same region consecutively, but it just happened to pan out that way this week.  These are some gig posters by Alessandro Busseni from Milan, Italy, demonstrating his illustrative style in all the splendor and animality.  The one with the two gorillas about to go at it is just good poster art.  Either its two gorillas about to get in each others faces or they're giving each other a high five like the Wayans Brothers.
