Adam the Velcro Suit - gig flyers and posters

This one has to be a favorite:  simple and clean, but enough subtle details to make it cleverly fantastic.

Granted, the vinyl record is an iconic image in gig posters and flyer designs -- and I love seeing it done well.  Off the top of my head I recall similar trends in shapes and colors by SuperExpresso and at BigAudio.

I think the execution of the drop is pretty clever.

Does this remind anyone of those olde-style flyer-booklets Trader Joes used to send out years ago?

From Cape Town, South Africa, Adam The Velcro Suit designs some of the coolest gig flyers I've seen lately.  Some are witty and clean, others inspired by olde-school styling.  Check out his Flickr or Myspace for more.

Here's a little bonus project by Adam.
Love how the colors and embossing complement the typography.  Kinda retro, but not.

Olly Moss - Master Race Poster

Olly Moss is in the Olympic spirit with this appealing yet insightful design about a big step in the Olympics of 1936.  The man really knows how to say so much, visually, with so little.  It's a very powerful moment from history that I wasn't even aware about, and for that I thank you Mr. Moss not only for your eye candy but also for the history lesson.

If you've seen the top poster for Radiohead's benefit concert for Haiti, you have witnessed the wit and design of Hollywood's Kii Arens.  His inspiring poster designs seem to contain visual jokes or gags, making them not only attractive, but pushing your eyes to muffled laughs.  Don't forget to check out his prints for sale at LaLaLand.

Josh Deiters

What looks like the inside of a computer motherboard and makes you feel like you're watching some retro animated music video?  This absurdly amazing Girl Talk poster by Josh Dieters.  It's a fantastic idea for a poster design that I'm quite jealous of.  Support artists and pick one up here if you're digging this poster as much as I am.

Here's some more mind-boggling poster designs by Aesthetic Apparatus for the weekend.  Even when in fun colors, their designs can still be delightfully dark and pretty odd.  Don't forget to check out their posters made for the recent Dead Weather tour.

Olly Moss - Sonic Youth

Olly Moss designed another hit poster for this weeks' Sonic Youth show in San Diego.  If you zoom you can see how each book is detailed down to the title and other little accents.

Aesthetic Apparatus - The Dead Weather tour

Even in faded grayscale Aesthetic Apparatus is able to design some attention-grabbing posters for The Dead Weather's recent tour.  It'd be really interesting to see their process in assembling these strange figures and faces with very unconventional objects...the inside of two palms as the shape of a head?  Revolver triggers as eyebrows?  I want what they're taking.
