Remarkable Book Cover Designs by Chip Kidd

I'm going to admit that the reason I first read Michael Chrichton's Jurrasic Park in the seventh grade was all because of my fascination with dinosaurs and the really cool skeletal T-Rex book cover design.  10 years past that, I now find out that it was in fact none other than Chip Kidd, the avid graphic designer and writer responsible for a plethora of other great book covers.  His design work for Knopf and Pantheon, imprints of Random House, have contributed greatly to book cover packaging over the past few decades.  Really loving the illustrations and side text bars in his work.

Music Goodness

It's no secret that Thom Yorke has been treading through the various beat scenes. He's posted a ton of killer playlists on the Radiohead blog, made multiple appearances at LA's Low End Theory and even put out a 12" with Burial and Fourtet. The upcoming Radiohead remix album, TKOL RMX 1234567, feels like an inevitable culmination of these events. I'm looking forward to hearing the SBTRKT remix of Lotus Flower, but this Thriller Houseghost one is my favorite so far:

Normally I'd link another track but last week Fourtet, Jamie xx, and James Murphy all dropped mixes and there's gotta be at least four hours of hand picked listening that I'd much rather recommend:

There's a preview of Jamie xx's remix of Bloom on that mix as well as enough house, disco, and post dubstep / UK funky to keep even a vicious Monday at bay.

Reader Submission of the Week: TEK Jones (Seattle)

Today's Reader Submission of the Week comes from Seattle by an artist who goes by the name of TEK Jones, who has a sizable portfolio of flyer designs for what looks like pretty heavy-hitting club parties.  Not too many flyer designers can get away with using weird fonts or customizing their own typography, but TEK Jones has the ability to pull it off, as you can really tell in the first flyer.

If you'd like to be featured as our reader submission of the week, drop us an email at flyergoodness@gmail.com and tell us a little bit about yourself.  We welcome all sorts of art submissions and design styles, so share some of your flyers, posters, art prints or album covers.
