Typo-Quotes by POGO

A cool project by design agency POGO based in Buenos Aires, Arentina. Digging the variety and mixes of fonts with these, and some nice color schemes too.

Reader S.O.W -- Aimée Van Drimmelen

This is Aimée Van Drimmelen. Shes a stellar illustrator and artist from Canada, and shes also this weeks Reader Submission of the Week.  Her drum-skin pieces are pretty phenomenal, if I had those on my drum set at home I would probably give up playing the drums so I could preserve the design. Just look at those chairs.  Fantastic use of watercolor here, really inspiring stuff.

Insanely Awesome Gig Posters Designed by Two Arms Inc.

I discovered some great poster designs by Two Arms Inc while checking up on the hyper-talented artists at this year's Flatstock at SXSW 2011.  Now, these are posters that will make any designer jealous -- and possibly push them to spend a few bucks to own some really nice-looking prints.  A ton of these are still available on their online shop, so check them out.  I'm contemplating that really clean EPMD poster.

Music Goodness: Jai Paul and Washed Out

With over a half million Youtube views and a recent sign to XL recordings (Ratatat, Tyler The Creator, The XX), I'd be surprised if the wheels on the hype/cred machine don't start turning fast for Jai Paul. The first legit track released from his upcoming album, BTSTU (XL Edit), has a heavy Prince/Dub/R&B vibe that's entirely consumable by the pop machine.

Last year's chillwave epidemic gave Carles from Hipster Runoff at least half of his content for the year. The songs that got zenithed were fun yet hazy and forgettable in the same way I remember good summers. Despite the complete hijack of anything that even remotely resembles a positive connotation of the word 'chillwave', I'm diggin' this track. With Sub Pop and the producer behind Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavillion and Gnarls Barkley’s St. Elsewhere behind the new album, there should also be a few good jams for summer on the way.
