Pretty Good Posters

Stay-at-Home Dad. Husband. Graphic Designer. Music Promoter. Novice Guitar Player. Dirtyfoot.

And that is the bio of the Flickr account of J. Andersen aka Pretty Good Posters, who is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Stumbling upon his image set while Flickr surfing, I was drawn to his illustration style and thought that it deserved a second look from you guys.

There was a game for the Sega Genesis that I use to play when I was younger called Toejam and Earl with bizarre and funky alien characters--some of these posters reminded me of that.

Olympics 1968 Mexico Identity Design from Lance Wyman

''

Some really fantastic design work from New York native and designer Lance Wyman for the 1968 Olympics.  The 60s Op-Art Kinetic Typography Mexico 1968 logotype gained influence from traditional Mexican culture, and set the tone for the rest of the supporting visuals for the Olympics that year.  The sports iconography is cleverly clean along with the dynamic range of colorways used by Wyman.

Not to leave out  his Obama poster --

Retro and Sci-Fi Design by Travis Pitts

Freelance illustrator, junk sculptor and apocalypse aficionado, Travis Pitts from Winston-Salem North Carolina does anything and everything inspirational of Science Fiction.  Really digging his illustration style and old movie posters.  He has a strong liking for robots, old sci-fi, zombies, giant monsters, and pin-up.  Sci-Fi never looked better, be afraid.

Video: Amazing Animation in this Don Pedleton Commercial

While it kills me to post up commercials, I can help but be in awe at how Don Pedleton's designs really burst into motion in this spot for Mountain Dew.

Breathtaking Moon Poster by Kevin Tong

This is by far my favorite poster by Kevin Tong, and one of his newest ones as well.  He even included awesome detail shots and process pics on his blog.  If for some reason you might think that a poster of this caliber would still be available, I'm sorry to let you know that it's been long sold out.  Just keep staring and check out his website for more illustration greatness.
