H-57 Creative Station

Its things like these that make it worthwhile to be a blogger--"Tomorrow is Now" poster set from H-57 Creative Station from Milan, Italy.  Loving the border work and graphics and playfulness with the type.  Definitely one of those moments where you say to yourself "I wish I made that".

Vintage Travel Advertisements

It's no secret that inspiration for design is recycled from earlier examples in history that have expired in time (fashion, music, design), only to be brought back in a new form that usually has some changes, but keeping the elemental aspects of the original style.  Looking at older work offers a different perspective on graphic design in such a way that seems more humbling in that there was not as much comparison of work as is evident today with online archives and such.  I always like to look at vintage graphic design as more honest graphic design, not to discredit the integrity of current designers or anything.

Vintage Product & Advertising Labels

Fascination for anything vintage, antique, retro, or limited edition will always be alluring to graphic designers across multiple disciplines.  After coming across this Flickr set of old labels from Joan Thewlis, you can really absorb and appreciate the much more straight forward and honest style of product graphic design that doesnt need to be flashy with artistry and witty with copy.
